Senior Python Engineer

We are Brenger; a clean-tech startup building a sustainable transportation platform. We solve the inefficient bulky goods transport by optimizing the utilization of every van on the road. This is how we reduce CO₂ emissions!

Do you enjoy building robust, performant and well-tested server-side applications that interface with the world primarily through REST+GraphQL, message queues and third-party services through their web APIs? Sounds like a match!

We are looking for a hands-on engineer who’s got a knack for understanding systems, evolving a system balancing long- and short-term goals and sharing knowledge with peers. The scope of this position includes designing new features, investigating complex problems, and building the features that find you as their ultimate executor. Your Future Tech stack
We have a core web API paired with domain-oriented {micro|mini}service satellites. Satellites are all on Python 3.8+ and here is where the heavy lifting happens. The core is on PHP 8 and focuses on CRUD and orchestration. We are now looking for someone who will focus on the heavy lifting!

- Main: Python 3.8+
- Deployment: AWS Lambda and Fargate
- DB: PostgreSQL 12 (hosted on RDS), DynamoDB backing
- Setup: GitLab/GitLab CI, Amazon API Gateway, Terraform

The results of your work are primarily consumed by React applications, internal or 3rd party services, e.g. business intelligence, along with 3rd party payments, operations, support, etc. We also opened up our API to external partners. We do not do unproductive MR/PR discussions regarding coding standards and style, we enforce them in CI instead. We always welcome architecture, programming, and operations practice improvements: anything that strengthens our workflows!

Your Future Team
You’re joining a strong development team of 8 people. The rest of the 50+ people team is split between Business, Sales, Operations and Customer Care. We are hybrid-onsite, i.e. we work 2 days from the office and 3 days from wherever you prefer. Unfortunately, at this stage we do not offer full-remote and new team members are expected to be fully immersed in the office for at least the first month.

We strive to be light on meetings, Scrum ceremonies are on a predefined schedule. We use Slack+Google Meet for video calls and Slack for async communication. Your email load will be light and no meetings on Tuesdays.

• Lean towards engineer on the wizard-engineer scale
• 5+ years of experience building and maintaining systems and applications
• Experience with the modern Python ecosystem
• Aptitude for picking up new tech
• English skills, both written and spoken
• An effortless user of git, issue trackers, CI, and other day-to-day dev tooling

It's even better if you have 

• Experience with PHP
• DevOps skills
• Desire to mentor fellow developers
