Head of Business Development

    Job description

At Brenger, we’re committed to transforming the bulky goods transportation landscape—from A to Brenger—making it smarter, faster, and more sustainable. Our innovative platform enables couriers to maximize their earnings while offering consumers affordable transport solutions for large items like beds and bicycles. Since launching in 2016, we've saved over 14.8 million kilometers and more than 4,372 tonnes of CO2. Backed by loyal investors, we’re poised for significant growth in the re-use market, reshaping the secondhand economy and challenging traditional capitalist models by promoting sustainability and reducing waste.

As our Head of Business Development, you’ll be at the forefront of Brenger’s expansion strategy with a Product mindset and Partnership focus. Your mission is to build and strengthen partnerships particularly with second-hand marketplaces like our collaboration with Marktplaats, to expand our impact across the Benelux, Germany, and beyond. You’ll also drive the redefinition of our B2C propositions (like Whoppah), opening new doors and enhancing our market presence, ultimately contributing to a more sustainable, circular economy.

    Key responsibilities:

    • Partnership Management (40%): Cultivate and enhance relationships with key partners, driving mutual success.

    • Business Development (30%): Identify and pursue new partnership opportunities, conduct market research, and develop compelling propositions.

    • Project Management (30%): Collaborate across teams to align partnership strategies with Brenger’s growth objectives.

What you’ll achieve in your first year:

    • Understand partner needs, scale existing partnerships and integrate with new leading marketplaces.

    • Redefine our B2C proposition and offerings to boost market reach and customer engagement.

    • Lead strategic initiatives that position Brenger as a leader in sustainable transport solutions.

    Job requirements

    Who you are:

    • 6+ years of experience in strategic business or partnership development, preferably focused on marketplaces and B2C.

    • Proven success in managing high-impact deals and complex projects.

    • Experience with Product Management and Propositions.

    • Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills with a strong commercial mindset.

    • Passionate about sustainability and transforming logistics in the secondhand market.

    • Thrive in dynamic environments, excited to make a direct impact in a fast-growing startup.

    Why Brenger?

    • A competitive salary aligned with your experience and our growth ambitions, plus Stock Appreciation Rights (SARs).

    • A full-time position, with the option of a 4-day workweek if preferred.

    • 25 vacation days, with extra time off for special life moments (including your birthday!).

    • A MacBook, travel cost reimbursement, and opportunities for international trips.

    • Access to a bike lease plan through Lease a Bike.

    • A centrally located office in Amsterdam, right next to Vondelpark.

    • Daily vegetarian lunch, plus snacks and fresh fruit to keep you energized.

    • The chance to thrive in a dynamic startup environment with plenty of opportunities for growth and development.
